RICH FOOD AT HIS TABLE

We are joined to God in Jesus Christ. Joined not only when we are doing well according to our report card on the Christian life but joined when our resolve is poor, joined when our resolutions have fizzled and joined when we are distracted by the world and not at all holy or committed. Christ’s love of you and presence with you is not spasmodic.
If you believe in Jesus your belonging depends not your performance but on His.
MISSING LINKS?
There are no links in your relationship with God that you must forge yourself. The oneness you have with your Lord is similar to the oneness Jesus has with our Father and Holy Spirit. Your relationship with God is never found in the sterility of the letter. It’s found in the love and grace that is the agency of God’s union with you, achieved in Jesus Christ.
STANDS IN FOR YOU /CREATES A NEW YOU
Torrance writes, “The root of the doctrine of the Trinity is the same insight that in Jesus we have to do with one who is not only on our side as creature, but on God’s side as Creator. He is of one being (homoousios) with the Father and so belongs to God’s life and not only to ours, but he brings his relationship with the Father into earthly revelation and action for our salvation.” (1)
Jesus is one in being with you.
The Lord’s Table is not about mourning enough about the cross in order to manipulate ourselves into some improvement in our faithfulness to Him. It’s about affirming the truth that He has come in our flesh to be us and be for us.
